Do I have to be a professional musician to join DMO? -- Not at all! We welcome all players of every level: beginners, intermediate and advanced alike. We're all learners and teachers, since we each bring our own individual backgrounds and abilities to the orchestra to share. Having an enthusiasm to play, a willingness to consistently participate, and an eagerness to expand your horizons makes for a great start. |

Do I need to read music in order to participate? -- Well... it's very helpful to be able to read standard notation, since that's the bulk of the music we rehearse for concerts and performances. However, accommodations can be made for tab-readers. We'd also be very glad to help you develop your music-reading abilities! (It's not as hard as it may seem...) |

What types of music do you present? -- DMO performs a wide range of music, with particular emphasis on presenting the versatility and universality of the mandolin family. Our repertoire focuses around Classical and turn-of-the-1900s through 1940-ish era music (the "golden age of the mandolin orchestra"), though we also present Renaissance, Big Band/Jazz, Latin/South American, seasonal, and recent-to-new compositions as time, talents and resources permit. |
